Do I need a referral?

No, referrals are not an essential requirement for the sessions to be able to run. Please feel free to reach out if you may have any questions before making an initial appointment.

How do I get a Mental Health Care Plan?

You will need to arrange to meet with your GP or Psychiatrist to discuss if you may be eligible to receive a Mental Health Care Plan.

What is the Medicare Mental Health Care Plan, how many sessions can I get access to and what are the rebates?

As of May 2023 under this scheme individuals diagnosed with a mental health disorder can access up to 10 individual sessions in a calendar year (January to December). A review is required at the end of the 6th and 10th session with your GP or Psychiatrist to determine whether further sessions are needed.

The rebate for Clinical Psychology is $131.65 for a 50 minute session.

Can I use private health insurance?

You can use your private health insurance ancillary cover to pay for any psychological services you receive depending on your cover. However, you cannot use your private health insurance ancillary cover to top up the Medicare rebates.  

How long do sessions run for?

Sessions run for 50 minutes.

How do I meet the Psychologist?

The sessions are currently rune via Telehealth and are held on the Zoom platform. The Psychologist will provide you with a link to their Zoom Room (which will remain the same each time). You will be able to turn your video and audio on once you enter the Zoom Room.

What is the cost for a session?

The current fee is $240 for a psychology session. If you have a mental health care plan in place you can get back $131.65 rebate from Medicare. Or you may check with your Private Health provider to determine your cover.

What days/times do you operate?

Currently Casey Psychology is running Monday to Friday between 9:00  and 4:30pm.

What is the cancellation policy?

We ask if you could provide your Psychologist with as much notice as possible. We do understand that at times things may come up. However, we need to charge the fee for appointments that are cancelled within 24 hours for the time that has been allocated.

How is my privacy managed?

Casey Psychology uses a secure practice management software called Powerdiary, a platform that provides security and privacy compliance for the storage of data.

How are payments made?

Payments are made to Casey Psychology either via direct deposit or you can use a credit card online. You can then claim back any entitlements you may have.

What will happen in my first session?

The first session will provide you with the opportunity to discuss your concerns, background information and your goals for the therapy. It will provide the psychologist a chance to inform you about confidentiality and build rapport with you.
